You think that the world’s most dangerous airports may be somewhere around Dubai, but it is actually not anywhere near these top ten deadliest airfields. You will rarely find somebody going around boasting of their knowledge and understanding of the topmost airports in the world. Many airlines even go into much greater detail to warn their customers about the dangers they present, some people are still confused about how many times airports have caused accidents. Here are just a few examples of the worst airports in the world.

10. Johannesburg International Airport

Joselin, South Africa – Johannesburg International Airport, or JIO has been ranked by Forbes among the most dangerous airports in the world several times. This airport has a history of being responsible for over 1,500 disasters due to its poor maintenance and bad design, especially regarding safety standards for aircraft operations. During the time that this airport operated, there were at least four different incidents that resulted from a single accident. A massive fire on December 28, 2003, in a hangar led to the deaths of over 30 passengers and crew members, a plane crashed in October 2014 with 62 people on board, and that same year there was yet another crash with two commercial jets coming off the runway, unfortunately, one died shortly after takeoff.

As of now, Taliban forces control all parts of Kabul however they refuse to let the US troops inside Kabul. There are over 700 reports every month in Kabul alone as security forces have killed thousands of Afghan civilians as they try to escape the clutches of the Taliban. Additionally, numerous rockets and other explosives fired by their group have blown up houses within a radius of 300 meters of Kabul international airport and are causing huge damage to buildings and structures. With a total length of approximately 43 km, the airport serves more than 6 million passengers daily. Over the years, this airport has seen several terrorist attacks, including the bombing of 1998, 2001, and 2013. Unfortunately, this is exactly what happened to two passengers when the man, believed to be Belgian, tried to use his boarding pass to gain entry to get back home. Luckily, nobody was injured in this case and the attacker was apprehended at the scene.

Turkey has recently experienced a series of terrorism incidents throughout the past decade. From the horrific incident in Paris on August 29, 2016, to the deadly explosion in Istanbul late last month, we can see that there have been considerable injuries and fatalities at Istanbul’s airport which could have been prevented if there had been proper measures. He was working as a European Union Commission staff assistant. The latest terrorist attack on Turkey’s international airport took place in June 2020, and again, there were nearly a dozen casualties. Although the airport and several nearby hotels are under siege, this does not mean that public transport will stop. Still, even though we are getting ready for the rainy season, we are waiting for the arrival of winter to hit, so we will definitely come back here in January.
